Augmenting Astrology

Another beginning…

The thing about astrology is that it invites in just about every field that is interesting to me in the whole wide world.

Including for example the cosmic, astronomical, magical, scientific, divinatory, psychological, natural, wise, therapeutic, historical, symbolic, spiritual, hermetic, medical, ancient, modern, mythological, cultural, aesthetic and poetic.

The beauty of cycles. The concept of time.

Yes.

Timing is a thing. And I think it’s fair to say, this is the time.

As an astrologer I can’t pretend to know all the significations of a moment of time, but I still shoot for the stars. Because that always bears fruit.

When I dive into the astrology of 2025 I first see a clear and bright personal correspondence to beginnings. My natal Sun is at 0°Aries, the birthing point of the zodiac, aka the Pisces/Aries cusp. Which is probably the point in the zodiac to be looking at this year. Check out the transit the chart below and you’ll see why. No other cusp is getting so much action with Mercury, Venus, Saturn and Neptune all doing a magical three passes over the cusp due to a rare line up of retrograde cycles over the birthing point.

Being born on the spring equinox and the astrological new year, I’m no stranger to new beginnings. Still, the thing about beginnings, although they often echo the past, they are by their very nature new. Not that we can’t get stuck in a loop, but if we follow the evolutionary pulse that is our nature, any loop can give way to a spiral.

The spiral I’m currently working on involves the birthing of an astrological school which fittingly has Pisces/Aries vibes if I sit to consider. Pisces in the way that there’s a strong spiritual current in this creation, a calling home if you will. It also has an ambitious Aries side that has been delighting in letting spontaneity give way to creation, which I’d attribute to my Mars in Leo in mutual reception with that Sun I mentioned. And so while initially developing a course, instead I also decided to found an academy of embodied astrology. Seemed like the right thing to do. Creatively pioneer.

So Why This Substack?
I want my words to matter and to do good things for people.
Illuminate things for others in some way.
Also, I have some kind of visceral resistance to writing on the major social media platforms.
And since I’ve decided to build out an astrology business, I’ve been writing a lot.

I believe that self knowledge is one of the best things I can give others, my self and the world. If you asked me what the this world needs most in these times, the answer is simple: the world needs as many people as possible walking in their power and living their destiny. By knowing who and what they are: stardust. In a nutshell, that is the golden purpose of astrology.

Of course there are many ways to achieve self-knowledge. After years of seeking, I found astrology to be the most compelling and exciting— such a tantalizingly rich tapestry of living wisdom. There is never a lack of things to write about.

So my substack is a learning space for those interested in all things astrology. I intend to share forecasts but also to write about the evolutionary aspects of astrology, and exploring the ways the archetypes teach us about our humanity, help us achieve happiness and manifest our destiny. But I’m interested in just about every facet of astrology. And honesty I’m curious what will become of this effort.

This year is going to be a big one. Whether you measure it from Jan 1st or Mar 20th, 2025 promises to cross new thresholds that will forever change the world, individually and collectively. Perhaps the most relatable image of this, because we have all experienced it, is birth. And so, as the planets pile up currently in Pisces, they prepare to cross that zodiacal threshold from end to beginning. The birthing point. 0° Aries.

And it won’t be a simple crossing either. As mentioned, Mercury, Venus, Saturn and Neptune are all going to be retrograding back and forth before establishing themselves in a whole new zodiacal cycle. This puts into mind an image of a soul in the process of incarnating on Earth but initially moving back and forth from the spiritual dimension to the physical dimension.

In this process, something will have to be reviewed in the imaginal realm once more before we really hit the road running into the new.

As a result, we will see and make initial in-roads followed by a pulling back into the past, to reflect on the process, to revisit Piscean themes that were alive during the previous transits, before finally re-engaging and re-birthing an established new. As the planets re-enter Aries, we’ll be revisiting ground that was already broken before breaking new ground. Venus has already begun this process having gone retrograde on Mar 1st until Apr 12, but for both Saturn and Neptune, this re-engagement won’t happen until 2026.

In perfect form, the first set of eclipses will occur in Aries/Virgo, mirroring the transition that’s happened in January when the Nodes of the Moon transitioned from the axis of self and other (Aries/Libra) to the axis of service (Pisces/Virgo).

What’s so very interesting about this is that we are learning through these two archetypes in two directions. From Pisces to Aries but also from Aries to Pisces. As the planets do their retrograde dance and eventually settle in Aries, the Nodes of the Moon move in opposite zodiacal order, having gone from Aries/Libra to Pisces/Virgo; unlocking a very Mercurial aspect of evolution and growth that is achieved by moving backwards through the zodiac.

Meaningfully, it was the Nodes that crossed the birthing point first and it is their new 18-month transit through the Pisces/Virgo axis after being in the Aries/Libra axis which is the focus of a mixed method treatment of the significance of the Nodal shift which you can check out here. This video was my first take on how we might best ride this new Nodal transit as it relates to our individual and collective evolution; the period being from Jan 11th, 2025 until Jul 26 2026. Now’s the time to ask: what are you in service to? what are your rituals? There is great power in ritual and we are being asked over the next year and a half to learn how to weild it.

This is a calling some of you may be familiar with, he calling to really connect with the spiritual while at the same time refining your daily habits, attending to the physical and especially the mind. My prayer is that you build connection to a deeper trust in spirit and in a greater capacity to manifest your desired life. Humility will be a great power at this time. Specifically getting humble about what needs purification in our life and areas that need tending.

In Pisces we connect to something greater and in Virgo we lean protocol. The synthesis of these two things is the practice of “right ritual” that will support this world immensely and work to to counter all the “wrong ritual” and darker magic being used on the world stage to manipulate and control.
